Speaker: Mr. Kung-Yueh Camyale Chao（CEO of International Climate Development Institute）
Nowadays, the climate service industry is playing an increasingly important role. Decision-makers have to take climate factors into consideration before making a decision. To accommodate the needs of different countries and cities, the International Climate Development Institute (ICDI) cooperates with various international organizations, such as CITYNET and Belmont Forum.
Mr. Chao introduced the concept of Community-based Adaptation (CBA) in the speech. CBA applies innovative methods to integrate traditional knowledge, which enhances the resilience of local communities to climate change. This bottom-up approach adopts the local’s perspective. Discussion is conducted in their language, and wisdom passed down through generations is highly valued. The community is incorporated into the decision-making process.
