Taiwan-Japan Online Workshop

The main participants in this workshop included Prof. Ray Y. Chung and Dr. Chih-Heng Lu of the Department of Geography, National Taiwan University, Dr. Tungchen Ho of the Disaster Prevention Research Institute, Kyoto University, and Dr. Yikai Hsieh of the Research Institute for Sustainable Humanosphere, Kyoto University.

Through giving lectures and answering questions, scholars from both sides and students learned about emerging geosciences issues and their development in recent years.

Prof. Chung and Dr. Lu focused on the recent technological advancement of geodesy and related disaster prevention applications. They also shared the application of geodesy in coastal monitoring and tsunami warning. 

Dr. Ho introduced the evolution of computational technology for earthquake-induced tsunamis and its prospects in coastal monitoring. He also brought up his experience of studying in Japan. Dr. Hsieh talked about emerging issues in the fields of high-altitude meteorology and space physics and prospects of the geosciences industry.
